Glee – back on form in a BIG way with ‘Born This Way’

After the lacklustre ‘Night of Neglect’, Glee roared back with a terrific extended episode this week, named for Lady Gaga’s latest. The episode saw the extremely welcome return of Kurt to McKinley, a surprising revelation about Quinn and Santana proving herself to be a schemer of the highest order. Best of all, pretty much every song was great, with a Rachel/Quinn duet that is definitely my favourite Glee song for ages, and one of the best of the season.

Zombies vs Cheerleaders on Hellcats, House, Game of Thrones, Body of Proof

Hellcats returned with a fun episode that featured Dan’s student movie – a pretty awesome zombie/cheerleader romp. Amber Tamblyn ended her stint on House with a really good episode. I was not especially impressed with the much hyped Game of Thrones, while I spent most of Body of Proof saying to myself ‘Christina Hendricks is married to HIM!!’

Glee – Night of Neglect

It’s been far too long since Glee was on our screens and this returning episode was not the show’s strongest by any means. It was also a Rachel-singing-free-zone, which is always going to be a minus point. However, we did get the return of Gwyneth Paltrow as Holly, Charice as Sunshine, Terri Shuester was back, as was the wonderful Stephen Tobolowsky as Sandy Ryerson. Tina got to sing for the first time in ages and we learnt that Brittany is an expert on cat diseases!

Modern Family v 30 Rock, Fringe and Smallville return, Bones goes for the funny..

There’s a bit of a theme to today’s reviews – two comedies kick things off, with one of the funniest Modern Family episode showing up a by-the-numbers 30 Rock, meanwhile been-gone-too-long Fringe and Smallville both went other world-y. Meanwhile Bones rested the tedious Brennan/Booth lurve they’ve been on lately and went for a fun romp of an episode.

More The Good Wife heartbreak, Thirteen back on House, Body of Proof on the up

Some good tv watching as The Good Wife continues its campaign for My Favourite Crime/Drama Ever, House has the lovely Olivia Wilde return from making a stack of crap movies, and Body of Proof is shaping up to be a pretty damn good show.

Army Wives loses a soldier, The Killing continues

Army Wives fifth season finally has what has to be an everyday reality for army personnel, the death of a soldier. Meanwhile the US remake of The Killing continues to be pretty good!

TV Catch Up – Off the Map, No Ordinary Family finales, Body of Proof, The Killing, The Good Wife, Breakout Kings

Lots of shows to catch up on, including the final episodes (probably ever) of Off the Map and No Ordinary Family, shows I liked quite a bit but failed to find an audience. No Ordinary Family went all apocalyptic as Lucy Lawless got a name (which I can’t remember now..Teresa?) and a dastardly plot – to find out how the Powell family got their powers for keeps and to then kill them. However, the melodrama surrounding this including JJ kidnapped, shape shifting humans, taking away powers, double crosses etc was just rather desperate and forced.
