Catching Up – The Killing ends, Summer tv??
Since the bulk of US tv shows ended in May, I’ve not had as much to watch so here’s a quick round up of what I HAVE been keeping up with. Firstly, many MANY viewers were unhappy with the finale of AMC’s The Killing. Well, I’d been unhappy with it since about episode 2. While the first episode was great – setting up the characters and the tone, since then it has been just tediously dull! A test of whether a tv show is gripping you is whether you watch avidly or find something to fiddle with while it is on. I found I had email to check, my Farmville … Continue reading

TV Catch Up – Body of Proof, Nikita, Chase, Breakout Kings, Bones, Hellcats, Desperate Housewives, The Killing and some cancellations
I am so way behind, it is time for a race through and catch up on some shows. Body of Proof continues to improve, Nikita ends its first season on a real high, Bones kills off a character, Hellcats future isn’t looking to promising and has been a little flat lately, The Killing isn’t quite doing anything much while a whole stack of shows have been axed and quite a few on my viewing list. Drat! Chase, Off the Map, V, No Ordinary Family, Mr Sunshine, Lie To Me, The Chicago Code, Human Target – all I can say is there better be lots of good new shows…

Zombies vs Cheerleaders on Hellcats, House, Game of Thrones, Body of Proof
Hellcats returned with a fun episode that featured Dan’s student movie – a pretty awesome zombie/cheerleader romp. Amber Tamblyn ended her stint on House with a really good episode. I was not especially impressed with the much hyped Game of Thrones, while I spent most of Body of Proof saying to myself ‘Christina Hendricks is married to HIM!!’

Army Wives loses a soldier, The Killing continues
Army Wives fifth season finally has what has to be an everyday reality for army personnel, the death of a soldier. Meanwhile the US remake of The Killing continues to be pretty good!

TV Catch Up – Off the Map, No Ordinary Family finales, Body of Proof, The Killing, The Good Wife, Breakout Kings
Lots of shows to catch up on, including the final episodes (probably ever) of Off the Map and No Ordinary Family, shows I liked quite a bit but failed to find an audience. No Ordinary Family went all apocalyptic as Lucy Lawless got a name (which I can’t remember now..Teresa?) and a dastardly plot – to find out how the Powell family got their powers for keeps and to then kill them. However, the melodrama surrounding this including JJ kidnapped, shape shifting humans, taking away powers, double crosses etc was just rather desperate and forced.

Fringe renewed, The Killing wraps
Great news – Fringe will indeed be back for a fourth season. After the show was shifted to a Friday in the US, there were fears, but ratings have held steady, and this week’s episode – set in the alt-verse – was a cracker! Meanwhile, absolutely fantastic Danish thriller The Killing ended its 20 episode run on BBC4.
